Part Sales

The E.E. Shop keeps a limited selection of some parts used in EE undergraduate labs on hand for sale to UN-L EE students only. These parts can be purchased with cash, personal check, or N-Card at the Shop in room W.S.E.C. 122. (No mail order, phone or Web orders.)

To save the time of busy students and busy E.E. Shop staff, please:

    • Consult our "big list of parts" see what parts we have , to get specific part numbers (not just "a flip flop"), and to download data sheets to help you choose what you need.
    • write down a list of *all* the components you need BEFORE you come to the Shop so our staff can simply take your list and get you all your materials quickly, especially during the rush times when projects are due and people are lined up. Please, please, no cell phone conferences with your lab partners at the front counter.
    • We're glad to answer questions about anything, but please examine your purchases elsewhere to avoid blocking our Shop entrance or delaying other persons waiting for assistance.

If you are an EE student you will be buying a lab kit from one of the student organizations that contains the parts you need for the lab. The EE Shop sells replacement parts in the event that your kit parts are damaged or lost or you need additional parts. We also stock items that are commonly needed in design and project labs, including solder, wire wrapping tools, and more.

    • The Big List of Everything We Have We've tried to list everything we have available on this list.
    • I don't know what the current parts lists are for our labs; until I do I'm not going to list them here.

Special Orders? If there is a part you need that we do not stock, you can ask us to include it on the next order we send in to one of our vendors. However, because we do not order every week, and do not normally use expedited shipping, the minimum amount of time required will be a week; if we do not have a parts order pending, it might be two or three weeks. Because of the extra administrative overhead such orders create, requests for expedited personal parts orders will be charged an additional $10.00 fee. For this reason, it would be better to submit such orders directly to on-line parts vendors using your own credit card.

Where can a poor EE student find parts in Lincoln, Nebraska if Radio Shack doesn't have what you need? Our Shop buys the great majority of our parts from the following vendors, all of whom have on-line catalogs and ordering (assuming you have a credit card.) When you order from these vendors by telephone or on-line, use your own name, address, and contact information, not the EE Department or the University. However, if you tell Newark Electronics you are a UNL student they will give you UN-L's discounted prices and free shipping.

Motors/Electromechanical Items: a couple local/regional sources of motors, electromechanical, and other surplus items are Burden's Surplus Center here in Lincoln, and Surplus Sales of Nebraska in Omaha. While you can pick things up from Burden's to save shipping, you'll want to use their website to find what need, because they don't have all their stuff out in a showroom for browsing in person.
